How does seeing the first black person or minority win the nomination for President make you feel?

I have to say that I never thought in my life time that I would see an African-American President and my father definitely did not believe he would see it in his. It makes me feel that this is our time to witness the breakthroughs we only read about like when Jackie Robinson made it to the majors or when Dr. Martin Luther King gave his "I Have a Dream' speech. Black America needs this more than we could ever imagine
To have a black man show our boys that they could be President, to show our people that you can go anywhere by having a strong black woman by your side, and to show the beauty of the black family is more valuable than anything else we can do for our troubled black communities. I can't wait till tomorrow to see Barack bring it home. Share how you all feel.

That last paragraph about the Iran/Iraq was how ya boy Ollie North got his fame. he took the fall for the Iran Arms scandal. That was when Reagan conveniently stated (at least he was under oath) that he did not recall. North is now a hero and talking head on guess....FOX News!! So why were they selling weapons to Iran if they were the enemy? Weren't they the country we hated becuase of the Iran hostage crisis...despite the fact the CIA overthrew they're gov't and propped up the Shah...who was overthrown, thus our angst. Or have you forgotten that hostroy of the middle east.

You see iraq didn't exist until 1940. it was a nation created by the UK & USA with three rival sects that was doomed from the onset. An oil treaty ended in 1999,...and due to the Gulf War...Saddam decided to sell oil in euros. Thus the current war.

Just say that we deebo'd the oil mayne...because that's what happened. The rest of the termoil is due to the propsed pipeline stretching through Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran....how about Georgia..on thru Syria to the Mediterranean sea. You'll see a parallel of "problem" nations along that pipeline.
Al, let me begin by restating for you not to take me to seriously. I enjoy the debate and DO appreciate your engagement. I AM "digesting" much of what you offer.

Keep it up man. Good stuff.

Now back to battle. :-)

Admitted. Iran-Contra was a bad deal and quite embarrasing.

Be careful now on middle east oil history. We were INVITED to run much of the oil operations. In fact, Saudi Arabia became the powerful nation-state it is today due to its ACCIDENTAL discovery of oil beneath its sands. They were actually looking for water. They then INVITED the United States to run production operations for them in pulling it out of the ground. That oil is every bit "ours" as it is theirs and we have strategic war scenarios on the board to seize that oil and the time of our choosing.
"LOL...there you go with that Marxist-Socialist diatribe."

Hey, if the shoe fits...

"So that's what Jesus Christ, the man your party seems to idolize "

What does Jesus have to do with this and shouldn't YOUR party idolize him as well? You may want to think about that statement again.

"you didn't digest anything said"

Oh was that a reguirement? My bad.

"Fox News, your obvious source of information...a station owned by rupert Murdoch" "he endoresed Obam"

So what are you bitching about then? The fact you keep "quoting" his news outlet says a lot about how the man feels about free speech then doesn't it? As opposed to where Democrats get their koolaid, e.g. CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, the NY Times, Al Jazeera, The San Francisco Homo Pages, etc. Seems to me, the donkeys have the media locked up and all you can come with is FOX News?

"Damn the rest of Rev Wright's sermon??"

Oh, I meant to say "F" Rev. Wright the racist SOB.

"You still didn't address how they worked hard for theirs."

Don't care if they did. The fact is they have it and you cannot prove they did not work for it. The bottom line is it should not be taken from them under a socialist punk and redistributed to America's lazy garbage.

"Most of them were involved in illegal activitties to get their immese wealth such as Alcohol and drug traffic."

If you are referring to the Democrat Kennedy clan then you would be correct. Don't know about the others, but you are more than welcome to provide third party, non-partisan proof and if you can do that I would love to hear what your efforts have been to bring them to justice.

"Corporations don't pay taxes, but the owners of the corporations don't either under your boy Dubya...and yes, many actually got rebates."

Yes they paid less and I APPLAUD THAT FACT! Rebates? Who got rebates? Explain and name names please.

"How is it that the oil industry, the industry off most in this administration take over the 2nd largest oil reserve in the world...and we get hit over the head with feul prices out the wazoo...only to read that the oil industry keeps topping previous RECORD quarter earnings and not smell a rat?"

The oil industry does not set oil proces dude. Oil prices are set by production rates (OPEC) and world markets. Not by American big oil companies. Geesh. Yes, their profits were high, BUT if YOU owned oil stocks like many other Americans you would be rich too, but instead of participating, you are just hatin'. You can win if you are not in the game. Energy is an industry that is feast or famine my friend. Their margins are very low due to the research and production requirements.

By the way, GWB got blamed for the temorary sike in oil and gas prices so I will go ahead and give him converse credit for them falling to the lowest prices recently in years! Fair is fair right? That is if you are still willing to tie some type of Bush inspired buffoonery to oil pricing.

From CNN Money http://money.cnn.com/2008/04/29/markets/thebuzz/:

"I looked at the annual reports for the largest 25 energy companies in the S&P 500 and found that 20 of these firms had more employees at the end of last year than they did at the end of 2006. So the oil boom is creating jobs.

According to the most recent figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, average weekly wages for nonsupervisory workers in the natural resources and mining industry (which includes oil and gas extraction workers) were nearly 70% higher than the national average.

In addition, weekly wages rose nearly 8% from a year ago compared to a 4.6% increase overall.

Gushing stock prices and dividends
Instead of bemoaning the amount of profits that oil companies make, people might have been better off investing in more energy firms.

Exxon Mobil's stock is up 15% in the past year. Shares of oil services giant Schlumberger have soared 36%. And deepwater oil dri
Naw man...me and you can have a beer anyday....so in all seriousness, I too appreciate the talk. I know print can come off harsh...and even if it does, so be it...we're big boys. But NEVER is any ill will meant to you personally. That's what debates are...and we do agree on some points...namely the democratic party being blindly accepted by our race as the party for them. i agree whole heartedly. AGAIN, I don't see the logic behind choosing a worse fit....what I call the GOP.
Kool.
But in response to the oil prices...yeah, they are falling...ironically at election time...but still way over the point of where they were before he got there. They are still high.

How am I hating against an industry that has monopoly on its citizens? Not only that...an administration that removed regulatory agencies upon its arrival in the oval office.

Jesus....of course anybody would what to model themselves behind Jesus. This is whether you believe in him as God or not...he was a great man of dignity. The man was not judgemental and however you look at iot persecuted for awakening a segment of the population to their unfair treatments...much like MLK, who was also persecuted. He has everything to do with this since part of the "reason" for the conquering is to spread his gospel. The so called pilgrims were supposedly religious outcasts serching for a place to worship in their own way...and not by the rules of the Chrich of Englad (another nation that "copnquered" in the name of Jesus. Look man, It's a big difference of doing and saying. Your party seems to say more than do...sorry. AND the majority of that christian fundamentalist base does too. To somewhat generalize, those types of Christians are the most judgemental to everyone else but the mirror.

What am I bitching about....SAY WHAT?? This supports my same team argument dude. The fact that a guy that owns 2/3 of the media outlets supports the "leftest socialist"...a term that just became fodder on Fox. The liberal media notion again the result is one of the great GOP tricks...say it over & over again until it's believed. The media is owned by few. All of those other outlets you have AT LEAST have opinions of both sides. Besides Colmes...who else on Fox has an opposing view? If they do...they get interrupted and attacked in trained Fox Fashion by Sean Hannity & O'Reilly (who is independent...yeah right).

You refuse to look at your party becuase you hate democrats so much...when they all are on the same team man...

Divide and conquer while we become a fascist society with no rights....one centralized bank...one of everything. Note all of the mergers in the last decade. Bush put the pedal to the medal and woke up too much of the populace...so let's get a "reforemer" in to calm the population that astarted to wake up with the bailout on top of all the other fiascos. this is what the guys that TRULY run the country are doing. This is why huge bankers and evenm right wing elites are behind obama. He is needed to calm the populace, provide better PR for the world (that now sees us as we are...imperialists)...

Pelosiand her Dems took over congress becuase the populce was AGAINST thw ar in huge fashion. They got in there and wrote a blank check...so they did not do what the poulace overwhelmingly wished. The bailout was overwhelmingly hated by the populace. To the GOP's credit, at least in Fla for fact, they listened to their base and voted against that. There are some GOP guys that I respect for that. Dubya insisted, per usual, that this good and the only move...and both candidates agreed...as they are all under gthe bankers umbrella....thus the Morgan & Chase family scooped up Wamu for chump change. The same players behind 1929 which enacted the federal reserve, a private company that hijacked our financial system. The same players are at it again my dude.

We need to wake up....

Both parties are hurting us
MURDOCH DID NOT ENDORES OBAMA! You are absolutely wrong on this point.
There's a lot more truth than poetry to this little thesis.

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.
Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference -- just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.
I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

Also, employers could announce the consideration of employee raises, then withhold those raises and give the proceeds to a worthy cause, preferably one involving non-workers ... PRICELESS!
Yes Eddie...the imagery as far as the black family is concerned is beautiful and hopefully will transcend into our communities.
"Hope" ain't going to do diddly squat and neither is "change."

Not until we teach our young women to keep their legs closed and drive down the 70% out of wedlock birth rate. Not until the father is once again the central and leading figure in the Black family and not the single, angry Black female or the federal and state nannys. Not until the father and not a WIC, welfare, housing or foodstamp card is once again the norm in Black American families.

You actually have women who introduce themselves PROUDLY as "single mom" as if that is some kind of badge of honor or status worthy of sympathy.

And please refrain from the temptation to use the "it takes two to tango" retort. I am so ready to nuke that lame fallacy if it is employed.
agreed....but its deeper than that and has roots historically as our plight is what it is. We cannot forget the Willie Lych syndrome and its effect today. now should a lot of us know this and appropriately respond...hell yes.
Ed, do not think I do not share your hopes. I do. We only differ in our methodologies to acheive that dream my friend.
